Hiddink Speaks!!!

In the light of the present firing of high profile coach Luis Felipe Scholari, Roman Abrahamovich has turned to Russian coach Guus Hiddink to lead troubled Chelsea in addition to his Russian national team. Abrahamovich, who elected Hiddink as the Russian coach implored him to take over at Stamford Bridge. Other contenders for the job are former Barca coach Frank Rijkaard, and former Chelsea coach Avram Grant.

Guus Hddink did admit that Chelsea had approached him for the job, but remained mum whether he would actually accept. But the Russian Football Federation spokesperson said that Hiddink, who led PSV for a few seasons, then led Australia and South Korea to the World Cup, and led Russia into the EURO 08 semsi, would be able to coach Chelsea for the EPL and then manage Russia as well.
Meanwhile Hiddink said that Arshavin made the right choice by going to Arsenal. He felt that the deal was good for Zenit( as they made a lot of money), and for Arsenal and Arshavin. He felt that Arsenal's quick passing football would lift his game, and lead Arsenal and Russia to heights. " I can see Arsenal holding a cup already", he said.
Hope he is true!!!

Chelsea's manager Luis Phillipe Scolari and Portsmouth manager Tony Adams have been shown the door by their respective clubs after unconvincing displays by Chelsea and Portsmouth this season.

Chelsea's weaknesses have been exposed by many teams this season, and they have won only 7 points this season from a possible 15. Assistant Manager Ray Wilkins will be temporarily taking over the managerial tasks as Chelsea search for a new manager. According to rumours, Guus Hiddink, Frank Riijkard and ex-Chelsea Manager Avram Grant are in the frame.

Portsmouth have had problems ever since Harry Redknapp left for Tottenham, and even though Portsmouth played well for major chunks of Saturday's game against Liverpool, it wasn't enough for him to keep his job as Portsmouth continue to struggle to chalk up wins.

In other news, Cesc Fabregas is making a speedy recovery and might even feature in the Champions League Match against Roma!

Rooney Fires Manchester United to become World Champions

Wayne Rooney came to the rescue as Manchester United beat South American champions Liga de Quito 1-0 Sunday to win the Club World Cup and lift one of the few trophies to have eluded them.

The England striker pounced in the 73rd minute after being set up by Cristiano Ronaldo, with United rallying to victory after Nemanja Vidic was needlessly sent off for a deliberate elbow early in the second half.

His goal gave them an unprecedented treble this year, with the English and European champions now able to call themselves world champions, helping silence those who have criticised the long trip here.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men also became the first British team to win the tournament, putting them alongside Italy's AC Milan and Brazil's Internacional and Sao Paulo.

"I'm very happy because we won this with 10 men," said Rooney. "To be crowned the best in the world is a great achievement. We are all very proud because we've worked hard.

"To score the winning goal in a match like this is a great feeling for me personally."

Conscious that he needs fresh legs for Stoke City on Friday, Ferguson made a number of changes to the side that beat Gamba Osaka on Thursday, with Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nani relegated to the bench.

On a windy night, Ronaldo was clearly a marked man and was heavily tackled twice in the opening minutes as the Ecuadorians made their intentions clear.

It was Liga who created the first chance, almost taking the lead on four minutes when Jairo Campos beat the offside trap from a freekick but fluffed his shot.

United though soon found their feet and Rooney chested down a through ball from Vidic just inside the box on 10 minutes and unleashed a fierce shot that goalkeeper Jose Cevallos did well to punch away.

He tested Cevallos again minutes later when he sent another powerful drive towards goal which the keeper deflected for a corner.

Guess their ego will be huge, huh???

Gunners are degrading to "attractive losers"!!!

Arsenal seems to have the most abominable luck. The young team has slipped to 5th after losing to Tony Pulis Stoke 2-1. They had the firepower and could not play as dirty as Stoke played. The team new to the EPL stunned Arsenal with two beautiful throw ins that the defence did not have an answer to. A Toure own goal and yet another goal could not stop Arsenal from losing the third time this season.

Now Stoke has injured crucial striker Adebayor, sprinter Sagna and Super midfielder Walcott as well as getting the only remaining first team striker Van Persie red carded for no fault of his. All this has happened ahead of the home clash against Manchester United. Though the Red Devils have yet to capture any of their winning form, wobegone Arsenal have no answer to their 5 pronged attck including in form Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Tevez and Giggs as well as Scholes, Fletcher, Nani. Their mistake prone defence of Silvestre, Gallas, Toure and Clichy cannot even neutralise a weak attack, let alone the great ManU attack.

Their main scoring strikers Adebayor and Van Persie are out of this match, leaving youngsters Bendtner and Vela to take up the mantle to score against Ferdinand And Vidic along with Van der Sar. Fabregas is going thru the worst form of his life, and without Flamini, Arsenal are definitely in tatters. Nasri is the only one who can score proficiently, though he is just back from injury.

SO GOONERS, this definitely means the demise of the INVINCIBLES, or does it???

Total Arsenal Makeover

Yes fans, we shall see a totally new Arsenal this season!!

First of all, we have an overconfident Adebayor up front. The tall striker had demanded much more attention from Wenger and had even threatened to leave the club for AC Milan. But since Ronaldinho is now there, he is no longer wanted. But he must not be so overconfident. The sleek tricker but bad finisher must prove his price this season.

We also have A rejuvenated Van Persie and Eduardo who is back from injury. These talents will not go waste this season. We also have a new attacker in the form of Samir Nasri taking Hleb's place in the squad. We will also see Fabregas, who was one of Spain's best players this Euro, to take a dual role in the absence of Flamini. But you never know, Ramsey might be good enough to partner El Galactico!!:D

Yes Gooners, this season is ours!!!!!

The Horror is Arsenal’s

Oh Man!! We thought Arsenal had passed the worst of their troubles. Eduardo’s injury, a mid season collapse, loss of the EPL title, FA Cup and the UEFA Champions league loss to Liverpool. And now a dramatic Flamini transfer and a more tussled Hleb leave from Arsenal. We, the Gooners have seen it all.

Arsene Wenger is now facing financial problems and chasing many players, the best of whom (Ben Arfa and Samir Nasri) are on the verge of signing an Arsenal contact.

But these troubles are just the tip of the iceberg. The real troubles are just beginning, or actually have begun yesterday.

Sepp Blatter, the chairman of the FIFA had decided to take some action after European heavyweights England exited the EURO 2008 after only the qualifying round. Now he has passed a law saying that only 5 foreigners are allowed to start in every club game in Europe.

“It is an exciting new law, and has been passed by the Australian delegates with an absolute sweepout vote.” Blatter said. “And now Platini has also agreed to this law to encourage new talent of the home country to be cultivated in the home league.”

As we all know, EPL has the highest concentration of foreign players in the world. A few clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham will not suffer as they share between them, nearly all the top English stars.

But clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool have only foreigners playing the exciting football. For Arsenal, Theo Walcott, Justin Hoyte and mostly Manuel Almunia (opting for English citizenship) are the only Englishmen whereas Liverpool has Steven Gerarrd and Jamie Carragher as their native players.

So Wenger and Benitez have to look for new English talent to supplement their squad.

“We don’t expect every club to get their native players this season. It shall be 4(natives) – 7 (foreigners) in the 2010 season, 5-6 in 2011 and then the final 6-5 in 2012.”,Blatter said as this rule was met with outrage all over the world.

Will Arsenal perish?? That is the main question. Pray, Gooners , Pray for the club!!!!!

Come On Arsenal !!!!!!

VAN PERSIE RETURNS!

Yes, it does sound like a movie sequel but it indicates the return of one of arsenal's finest striker's-- the Dutchman Robin Van Persie. Massive injury setbacks have kept him out of football for a minimum of 5 months, but his return is bound to boost arsenals front line as they face Aston villa and then AC Milan at the San Siro. He's always been reliable at the front and has developed a fantastic partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor, but will this pair have any chance of slithering through the Milan defence? Patience will say it all.

Good NEWS!

GOOD NEWS!!

Eduardo's surgery has gone well!
He'll be running in 6 months, and will make a full recovery in 9 months!!!!!!! Woah.. a long time though:(

According to the statement released by Arsenal to Arsenal.com:

"The Club can confirm that following the incident during Saturday’s match at Birmingham City, Eduardo has fractured his left fibula and sustained an open dislocation of his ankle joint in the same leg.

He was immediately taken to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he underwent surgery on Saturday evening. The operation was successful and Eduardo was transferred to a London-based hospital on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier today (Monday 25th February), the Orthopaedic surgeon and Arsenal medical staff assessed the extent of the damage and possible time scale for a full recovery.

All being well, Eduardo will have his leg in plaster and using crutches for the next six to eight weeks. After that time, partial weight-bearing exercises will be scheduled into a slow rehabilitation process.

It is hoped that Eduardo will be running again in six months time and making a full recovery after nine months.

Eduardo will be released from hospital in a few days."

If you want to send your messages of support to Eduardo, then click here

Don't forget to add your name, age and where you come from as your message will be printed into a book and it will be given to Eduardo.
