Lyon clash with Manchester United ends in a draw

French league leaders Lyon played at home against Manchester United who had just humiliated Arsenal in the FA Cup with a 4-0 victory in the 1st leg of the last 16.

The Red Devils, brimming with confidence added Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs in the first squad, leaving Tevez and Nani on the bench.

Manchester started the game with a close chance, thwarted because of Coupet. But Lyon looked threatening as the overconfident Red Devils lost the ball due to carelessness, giving Lyon quite a few chances, as Lyon dominated a boring first half.

But Lyon proved their worth by scoring amazingly. The lead striker, who had missed a lot of chances, saw his chance through a Juninho pass a kicked the ball through six defenders as well as surprised Van Der Sar.

Manchester tried their best but were blocked by a solid defence. Nervous and sweaty, Sir Alex Ferguson brought in Tevez and Nani, as soon as they entered provided a moral boost.

A Nani cross to Rooney into goal was offside but in the 87 minute, Nani crossed to Rooney who missed a chance, only for Tevez to smash it into the net for an equaliser.

Manchester United were brimming with overconfidence but did well to draw the first leg. But the match should have gone to Lyon. Congrats, Lyon!!!!!!!

Cheers!!

Here are the highlights!!!
