It looked like the season was a complete flop, with Arsenal drawing 4 consecutive premier league games and then losing to a spirited chelsea side. But renewed hope has come arsenal's way, as bolton fans watch their side lose a 2-0 lead and then lose all 3 points.
Conditions wet, pitch wet and the season in jeopardy of falling apart-arsenal were looking for a clear victory . The game, of course, did not start this way. A good start from arsenal was overshadowed by a beautiful cross in-headerfrom taylor which found the back of the net . Dejavu? Think again. This time the opposing team managed to get a deflected shot in the back of the net, to give the home side a convincing 2-0 lead! To top that, Abou Diaby was sent off for a reckless tackle. In my books, it was a yellow. The funny thing is the "injured player" hopped straight on the pitch and took his place. No damage to bolton of course, only a player down for arsenal. The bolton fans were playing slack once again, holding the ball for eternity everytime it went out. Clearly arsenal had steeped to new lows. Arsene Wenger, though, would not have it. A substitution from the professor saw arsenal grab two goals in the span of 7 minutes which left bolton tattered in pieces. A comeback with 10 men was never though of, but with a side as resiliant as the gunners, anything can happen. 89th minute of the game sealed the deal for the gunners, an own goal saw them grab all 3 points which might just cause a bit of shiver in the anfield side travelling to the emirates in a few days. What we must take account of is that Arsenal have severe defensive problems, starting with handling the break and the overhead crosses. As soon as we have rosicky back we can work a bit more on our midfield. The striking problems were clearly invisible as good defence denied Bentdner his share.
After this performance, questions arising will include whether this is a recovery of the season. I would like not to emphasize on that as we've just faced a bolton side prone to relegation. What we should look forward to is welcoming liverpool to the emirates stadium, a welcome that might just cancel the need of a second leg.
The champions league fixture will be played of course at 7-45 London time with a capacity of 60,120 expected. Until then, its goodbye
Thank you
Gunner!
