In other updates, Arsene Wenger is after Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar. The Croatian international may be tempted to join one of the big four, which is good news for Wenger. He himself said that he would be crazy not to be tempted by the calls of big clubs, as everyone wants to achieve the most in their career and play Champions League football and win trophies. Arsene Wenger has identified him at the top of his list of potential players to replace Mathieu Flamini.
Arsenal are reportedly after Newcastle forward Obafemi Martins, but Kevin Keegan openly said that he would not give off his players.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have renewed their interest in Fiorentina showstopper Frey, as a replacement for Jens Lehmann. Frey, 10 years junior to outgoing Gunner Jens Lehmann, is a target of many teams, but Milan are at the top of the list to sign the Frenchman. Barcelona want him to challenge their troubled homegrown keeper Victor Valdes and Bayern Munich want him as a replacement for Oliver Kahn. After Fiorentina secured a Champions League berth, they would not be ready to sell off any of their players, and could command a fee of 16 million pounds. Arsene Wenger is a very careful spender, and a very stringent one too, so it is unlikely Frey will find his way to the Emirates.
Another transfer target for Arsenal has emerged, that is 21 year old U-21 French international Mouhamadou Dabo from St. Etienne. He is one of the many Ligue 1 targets on Arsene Wengers radar.
