Man Utd are Champions of Europe as Champions League Final heads to thrilling finish

What a night! Truly an amazing spectacle of Football!!

Man Utd and Chelsea, fought all the way to the last second of extra-time, leading to penalties, which went in Man Utd's favour.

But there were many similarities between this match and the 2006 World Cup Final contested between Italy and France.

Like Zidane, Drogba was handed a red card for slapping Vidic somewhere in extra-time, leaving Chelsea without one of their first choice penalty takers, which proved too costly for them.

The game started of very slowly, with both teams attacking and passing, trying to build some momentum. Tevez was at his menacing best, trying not to give the ball to any of the Chelsea players. Cristaino Ronaldo sparkled as a left winger where he tamed the Chelsea defenders, except for Michael Essien. The first goal came in the 26th minute, when Wes Brown passed the ball to a bloodied Paul Scholes, who then quickly flicked the ball back to Brown, and away the ball goes! Brown moves forward a bit, and fires an amazing cross from the right flank, to show the world that Cristiano Ronaldo is good in the air too. The Portuguese scored his first goal against Chelsea, to take his impressive tally of goals this season to 42.

Suddenly the game was alive, as a flying Tevez headed a brilliant low-cross from Ronaldo, which came off Cech's hands and Carrick fired the rebound which was again brilliantly saved!

Chelsea came close 10 minutes from time when Ballack made a well-timed run to meet Drogba's header, but it was well saved by Van Der Sar.

Chelsea finally got back into the match via Frank Lampard in injury time. Essien ran forward and blasted a low hopeful shot, which deflected twice, first of Vidic and then of Ferdinand, and landed in front of Lampard who knocked the ball into the goal.

Many chances were missed in the second half, which was even more exhilarating than the first half. Drogba's superb long range drive completely beat Van Der Sar- but hit the right pole. 

The last few minutes of added time were amazing, as Man Utd. kept the pressure on Chelsea, but they were not able to steal victory as they did in added time in 1999.

So, the match went into extra time, and Lampard got a shot on target, which went off the cross bar. Ryan Giggs came out onto the field for his record-breaking 759th Manchester United appearance, and got a clear shot on goal, which was denied by spectacular defending by John Terry. Drogba got sent-off for slapping Vidic, and a fight broke out among the players of both sides.

Then the penalties came, and with Cech saving Cristiano Ronaldo's effort, John Terry had the chance to give Chelsea the win. But he failed, hitting the ball wide of the post. It was all upto Anelka in the end, who fired a shot straight- to be blocked by VAN DER SAR!!! The Match turned so dramatically!! Man Utd win on penalties 6-5!!!!! A dejected Terry cried out the night, regretting his miss.

Well, Man Utd are champions of England and Europe, now they would like to become the Champions of the World when they take on a few other teams in Fifa World Club Championships.
