Euro 2008: Group B - (08/06/2008)Germany 2-0 Poland

Two Klose set-up Podolski goals and some quality football were all that was needed for Germany to brush aside local rivals Poland in the second Group B encounter yesterday. It was a fitting end to the match, since Podolski and Klose, were both from Poland.

The Bayern Munich striker showed no signs of being ecstatic after scoring both goals, showing respect to his country of birth.

The first goal came in the 20th minute, when Mario Gomez put in a brilliant through-ball to an unselfish Miroslav Klose, who passed the ball to Podolski to slot it in.

The second one came in the 72nd minute, and it was an unintentional assist by Klose, who seemed to had made an error. The ball dropped in Podolski's path, and he fired it in with his left foot.

The German's quality football was too much for Poland, who made Jens Lehmann barely move around. Ballack was at his finest, whereas substitute Schweinsteiger was good too. Gomez missed an easy chance early, and he was very dominant, yet unlucky to score any goals.

Poland also had many chances, and the best one was in the opening minute of the game, when Lehmann dropped a high ball, but it wasn't converted, which was quite disappointing.
