Tottenham thrash Arsenal 5-1

This was a totally forgetful night for the Gunners and the Gooners as Tottenham thrashed Arsenal 5-1 to win 6-2 on aggregate to head into the finals of the Carling Cup. They'll either face Chelsea or Everton, but they have a newfound confidence as they blasted five goals against Wenger's young side. Tottenham had not beaten Arsenal in 21 games, and this cherished and historic record was broken yesterday at the White Hart Lane.

Tottenham had totally dominated the first leg of the Carling Cup, which ended 1-1.
Jermaine Jenas, wo scored the opening goal for the Spurs in the first leg, did it again as he ran through a lacklustre defence to ping a low shot beyond Arsenal's inexperienced third goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Arsenal played a more experienced side than in the first leg, but the Spurs doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Nicklas Bendtner headed a Jenas freekick right into his team's goal. But aware of the fact that last year they failed to defend the 2-0 lead they got in last year's semifinal against Arsenal, Tottenham played attacking football and kept the Gunners on the backfoot.

They struck again 3 minutes after halftime, with Berbatov sending Keane after the ball. The Irishman capitalised on the opportunity and flicked the ball to Fabianski's right. The shot was an easy one to block though, but the sloppy goalkeeping didn't stop here.

Tottenham made sure the match was theirs by adding a 4th goal in the 59th minute. Keane set up a goal for Lennon on the right and Lennon smacked the ball through Fabianski's legs as the Spurs kept on piling the misery on Arsenal.

But all wasn't glum for Arsenal on that night, as Adebayor made an amazing 20 meter drive in the 70th minute to pull one back for Arsenal and give the scoreline some respectability.

Well, the Spurs capped off their biggest win over Arsenal in 25 years in added time with a Jenas set up Malbranque goal. This gave the Tottenham supporters something to cheer about as they celebrated what was their 'best win of the season'.

I fail to understand, what the heck was Alexander Hleb doing in defence? Dear Wenger, Hleb is a world class midfielder, not a defender! Besides, i think Gilberto Silva would have done a much better job in the defence!:D

And why didn't you just use Lehmann or Almunia instead of an inexperienced Fabianski?? You shouldn't squander away important matches like this by using your most inexperienced players!

Anyway, this is just a tiny blot on what is Arsenal's greatest season since 2003-2004.

Don't worry, the FA CUP, Champions League and the English Premier League are still up for grabs right??

And last but not least, the highlights!!! Here you go!!!

HAIL ARSENAL!!!
